Don't use water when the power is out
A while back we posted an article on how wastewater works on units, this article can be found HERE.
Remember, all wastewater that leaves the unit goes through the macerator pump. This includes the kitchen sink, shower, bathroom sink and toilet. The macerator pump runs on electricity. If there is a power cut to your unit, then your macerator pump won’t work. Macerator pumps are normally located behind your toilet, but on some units they are outside.
While the macerator pump has power, wastewater will be pumped out of the unit when you use water. If there is no power to the macerator pump and you use water, you run the risk of the macerator pump leaking. If you use a lot of water when the macerator pump has not got power, you run the risk of flooding the unit.
If you have a power cut or your macerator pump is not working in your unit, stop using water ASAP. If there is power and the pump isn’t working, call Unit2Rent on 0800 863 8373 (Unit2Rent).
